Pinot Grigio tasting
Outside of South Africa Pinot Grigio is one of the top wine cultivars in demand, however here it is just starting to get recognised. Recently the big guns at Cape Town Fish Market decided they liked it so much that they would list ours in all their restaurants nationwide (including their one branch in London).
For a bit of a treat and to help educate some of the guys and girls that do the hard work on the restaurant floors, we organised a trip out the Stormhoek vineyard, to show them the vines and explain more about the different cultivars of wine they have to sell on a day to day basis.
The day started with a walk around the vineyard, tasting the grapes and explaining the basics of wine making. After that we did a tasting of the different cultivars with more swallowing than spitting but nonetheless thankfully staying sober and in the shade of the sun.
Then was time to relax some more, have a braai and finish off any of the wine left over (and then a bit more). Pictured above are some of the guys and girls from CTFM as well as Graham, his wife Diane, winemaker Koos and braai master me ! (I always laugh when they trust a braai to an Englishman).
Cheers,
Chris
