When Basjan first came to work at Stormhoek 40 years ago (he’ll be 63 this year), there were two vineyard horses, Violet and Debbie.
Man enough for a man’s job
This is a redraft of a story written by our new vineyard supervisor Lizel Brown late last year.
Sounds scary? I am pretty scared (writes Lizel). Four weeks ago I was a pre-school teacher. But in the last few years, I have spent most of my time being a mother and a housewife. Now I am a man in charge of 7 men and half a dozen women, running the Stormhoek vineyards.
